Matthaios is a qualified actuary and Senior Consultant at Aon Solutions Cyprus, specialising in pension and social protection systems across the Middle East and Europe. He provides actuarial and strategic advice to governments, social insurance institutions, and corporate pension funds on issues relating to funding, sustainability, and reform. A graduate of the University of Leeds with a First Class Honours degree in Accounting and Finance, Matthaios is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) and serves on the Board of the Cyprus Association of Actuaries (CAA). He has played a key role in large-scale projects supporting national social insurance organisations and multinational employers. His recent work includes leading actuarial valuation and reform modelling assignments in Saudi Arabia and Oman, focusing on long-term financial projections, contribution policy, and sustainability assessments. Matthaios also acts as the consulting actuary for several pension and social insurance schemes in Cyprus, Egypt, the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, and other Gulf countries. Beyond his client work, Matthaios is an active contributor to the actuarial profession in Cyprus and the wider region. As a board member of the CAA, he supports initiatives to promote professional standards, continuing education, and regional collaboration within the actuarial community. Passionate about applying actuarial science to public policy, he regularly engages in discussions on the future of retirement provision and the evolving role of actuaries in social protection reform.
