Matthaios holds the distinction of being a Fellow of both the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) and the Cyprus Association of Actuaries (CAA), where he also serves as a member of the Council. He is an alumnus of the University of Leeds, where he earned a BSc with First Class Honors in Accounting and Finance and a top 10 distinction in his class.
In his professional journey, Matthaios has excelled in various capacities, beginning with his role as an Actuary at Mercer UK, where he was providing funding advice to Trustees and Corporates of Defined Benefit pension plans. His career progressed as he took on the position of Actuarial Consultant at KPMG, engaging with clients on actuarial valuations, formulating de-risking strategies for pension plans, and advising on pension plan consolidations during Mergers and Acquisitions.
Since 2022, Matthaios has been a valuable member of Aon’s Wealth Solutions team, focusing on devising bespoke advice and solutions for government and social insurance entities, addressing their funding, financial sustainability, and reform initiatives. Moreover, he is the consulting and scheme actuary for a suite of multinational and local companies, as well as pension institutions across Cyprus, Egypt, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, and other nations in the Middle East.
